Big rock cut through Sideling Hill, looking east along I-68. Many layers of geology were exposed when they blasted though the mountain in 1984. Previous to the time there was no interstae highway that connected Western Maryland. I-70 turns North about 2 miles to the East. It was built in the 1950's and they avoided cutting through the mountain by going around it North into Pennsylvania.
