GONE IN AN INSTANT
You
flew so high
You could touch the sky
Pushing back the thoughts that
you could possibly die
And the fear that it could all be
gone in an instant
Admiring your strength
and
courage as I look up at you
Though from down here on earth
it’s a different view
I know by experience very well
too
That it could all be gone in an
instant
Life is fleeting at best
Yet you stood up to the rest
Passing a hero’s test
And still it was all over and
gone in an instant
It is with a tear in our
eye
And mournful sadness we cry
That the pain of your loss even
as time passes by
Will never be gone in an instant

For Their Art
Dedicated to the seven astronauts
who lost their lives in the Space Shuttle Columbia on 2/1/03:
David Brown, Rick Husband, Laurel Clark,
Kalpana Chawla, Michael Anderson, William McCool and Ilan Ramon
With great respect and
admiration to C Gordon Fullerton who flew the Space Shuttle Columbia
from March
22-30 1982, and served on the support crew for Apollo 14, 15, 16 &
17 lunar
missions, paving the way for our future astronauts to explore the
universe.
