1ST AND 2ND Grade Discipline Policy
"The most important (commandment) in this: ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second in this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these."
Mark 12:30-31
Using Jesus’ words as the basis for this discipline (teaching) policy, the student will:
- show love and respect for teachers, other students, and other adults
- help provide an environment where learning can take place
- help keep themselves and others safe from injury
- be trustworthy and honest
- take care of God’s gifts, including church and school property
Rewards may include the following:
- verbal praise from the teacher
- small rewards such as stickers, stamps, bookmarks, etc.
- extra free time
- extra story time
- notes sent home to the parent regarding a special "job well done"
Consequences may include the following:
- verbal warning from the teacher
- shortened free time
- lunchtime detention
- watching during recess instead of playing
- note or phone call to parent regarding nature of the problem
