AMAROQ
CERMONIAL RAWHIDE RATTLES
Each rattle is hand crafted using various types of rawhide, wood, fur, shells, leathers, feathers, bones and beads. Most of these materials are gathered from nature and minimally altered.
The rawhide is softened, cut, hand punched, sewed and formed. After slowly air drying each shape I insert small ocean polished stones, dry indian corn and sage, to give each rattle its own sound.
I then paint them using India ink. The images, designs and colors used are determined by the spirit of each rattle. Handles and decorations are chosen to further express its meaning. Leather wraps are brain tanned deer buckskin unless otherwise specified.
