Atlas F Sites - 556th SMS - PAFB

Site # 7 : Sugarbush

This site is privately owned. The underground site is sealed. The owner's son said that before it was closed, the underground site was flooded almost to the top. The quonset huts are gone; the structure on the site is a hunting cabin, built by the owner.

This area appears to be a helicopter pad. It is located approximately 500 feet from the missile site; the site is in the left hand corner of the picture, behind the trees. This is the only missile site in the 556th SMS which was found to have an exterior helicopter pad. It is unknown if the pad was used for construction of the missile site, or was used during the operational years of the site.
