It's official -- a majority of DFL delegates are opposed to copper sulfide mining.
#68 -- 58.06%
Copper-nickel sulfide ore mining has
unacceptable environmental and health
impacts. To protect the BWCA and Lake
Superior, this mining should be banned in
Minnesota until similar mines have operated
in the United States and been closed 10 years
in a water-rich environment without acid mine
drainage or pollution, and SNF lands should
be removed from sulfide mining leasing for
20 years.
