When Will I Ever Use This? |
Your friend and neighbor, who is a high school math teacher, asks for your help in evaluating a web site he is thinking about using. He is getting frustrated with some students who are always asking "when will I ever use this?" in math class, particularly during algebra lessons. He thinks he's found a good web site in which students role play in the defense of various mathematical topics, including researching how they are used in real life. He's looked the site over, and noticed some things that he's not sure about; he asks you to try two tasks:
Task 1 is to find the survey worksheet mentioned in the student pages
Task 2 is to look at the link titled History of Math (not Math History) and give your impressions of the web site linked to.
You are free to look around the When Will I Ever Use This? web site and try other things, just be sure to note both good and not-so-good things you find.
