Medical Facilities:
The citizens of Belle Plaine are served by a medical clinic staffed by family practitioners and an optometrist. Within a radius of 18 miles, five hospitals can quickly be reached from Belle Plaine. Belle Plaine also has dental, chiropractic, and pharmaceutical services within the community.
One of Belle Plaine's largest employers, the Lutheran Home is a residential health care facility with an adjoining facility for mentally retarded residents. Full time physical and occupational therapists are available to the community.

Belle Plaine Police Department:
Police protection is provided 24 hours a day by the Belle Plaine Police Department. Belle Plaine is proud to be a DARE City, providing Drug Awareness and Resistance Education and Gang Resistance Education and Awareness Training (GREAT) to elementary and junior high school students.

Belle Plaine Community Ambulance Service:
The Belle Plaine Community Ambulance Service was established in 1975 to provide pre-hospital medical care for the Belle Plaine area. The volunteer service has grown to include over 35 fully licensed emergency medical technicians at the Basic, Intermediate and Paramedic levels. Belle Plaine has two fully equipped ambulance units on duty at all times, and mutual aid agreements with surrounding agencies to assist in mass casualty disaster settings. The average ambulance response time to an emergency within the Belle Plaine City limits is four minutes from the time the volunteers are paged.

Belle Plaine Fire Department:
Belle Plaine and the surrounding areas are serviced and protected by a dedicated volunteer Fire Department originally organized in 1894. The Department maintains 30 active members, nearly half of whom are certified First Responders. The response time averages three to five minutes to all property within the City limits with a response time of three minutes to the proposed site.
Health and Human Services:
Belle Plaine has an excellent medical clinic staffed by four family physicians. On-call emergency service and consultation is provided 24 hours a day, every day. The physicians maintain hospital privileges in several neighboring communities. The clinic also offers full optometric services.
Other health services include three full time dentists, orthodontic services, and two well staffed chiropractic clinics. Belle Plaine is within 18 miles of three hospitals with access to numerous specialists.
The Belle Plaine Lutheran Home is a large, modern, long-term, acute care facility for the aged and special needs resident. A variety of outpatient services are available at the Home including physical and occupational therapy.
