Siren Ignored
Bright filtered
moonlight
blues low lying
fog.
Silence surrounds
me,
seducing my
senses.
Full moon indifference
mocks my mental
wail;
loud talking
coyotes
make wild turkeys
murmur.
Mind snaps unbidden
to caring past
moons;
she was the
answer –
to questions
unasked.
He did not listen;
he could not
be taught.
Listening for
hours
-- her lessons
unheard.
Achingly later,
and trying to
learn…
in “helping”
another,
he’s killing
the “helped”
-- and himself.
“Schlepping
along” now,
none wondrous
to hold.
How could he
not answer
the siren’s
clear call?
