PROGRAM DESCRIPTIONS
Day Training Services
CDS' day training programs offer adults, age 22 or older, a
variety of opportunities to enhance their personal, interpersonal and work
readiness skills. Individualized training is based on the client's needs and
choices. Individuals may explore their
interests in the areas of: life enrichment, personal hygiene, daily living
skills and pre-vocational. Day training
services are offered at the following locations according to your county of
residence:

Sheltered Workshop Services
CDS’ sheltered workshops introduce clients to the working
world where they learn skills necessary to obtain jobs dependent on their work
readiness. Clients work Monday through Friday packing, assembling, heat
sealing and inspecting products for local businesses sub-contracted through
CDS’ workshops. Clients earn a bi-weekly paycheck based on their
production, giving them a sense of achievement. As progress is made clients are placed in jobs in the community
through the supported employment program.

Supported Employment Services
The Director of Vocational Services and the Supported
Employment Specialists work with area employers to develop job opportunities
for CDS clients. In cooperation with
the Division of Rehabilitation Services, CDS offers a supported employment
programs designed to provide individuals community based employment. Supported Employment Services offer clients
a variety of employment and career opportunities. Supported Employment Services
are available by calling the Director of Vocational Services at the Lion Junius
White Workshop located in Martin, Tennessee.

Residential Services
CDS offers an array of residential options for individuals
who are developmentally disabled. This includes five houses, with live-in
staff, providing a group home environment.
The group homes are located in Martin, TN., South Fulton, TN., and Union
City, TN. Other residential options
include individuals living in apartments and supported living apartments that
are located in Martin, TN., Paris, TN., and Union City, TN. Each home has
residential support staff assigned according to the needs of the individuals
living in that home. All residents
either attend the day training center, the Lion Junius White Workshop, other
appropriate day programs or are employed in the community.
