For those of you who know us well, we’ve been talking about exterior renovations on this house for about 4 years.  That is nearly the entire time we’ve lived in this old beauty (minus 1 month of a *honeymoon period* :) Unfortunately, we weren’t ready to do much of it until recently.

 The primary concern of ours surrounds our crumbling foundation and wood damage due to a variety of causes (water, powder-post beetles, bad house kharma, etc.)  At least the first 2 are legitimate causes. We also had grand plans about building a new wrap-around porch that not only would be bigger, but more functional than the rather small and woefully old farmer’s porch we have now.  Don’t get me wrong, we love our porch.  It was the inspiration and namesake of the pages you’re currently reading.  However, it does need some TLC, and in the process hope to make it even better.

On the pages to follow, Beth and I will blog our way through the renovations with weekly updates (or so we hope) so that our friends may commiserate with us on this journey.  Hopefully, we’ll still have a buck or two in our pockets when this is over so we can have you over to celebrate on the new ‘porch.’ So the next time you’re feeling bad about all the work you need to do...just think of us.  Then send us money.
