Week 7 (June 20-24, 2005)

Hello again! Before we begin this week’s fun-n-games, I’d like to share what Joe’s been up to...

A while back, Joe completed the center cabinet.  This week he finished the two side cabinets.  He took the design from a Pottery Barn catalog and adjusted it for our tastes and home decor. It’s absolutely perfect. He did an amazing job.

Back to business.  Here is a view from the basement - these strange pieces of wood are used as forms to fill the gaps in the current foundation so the concrete won’t seep through.  The “stuff” underneath the forms is the concrete that Cracolicci poured as a band-aid for the foundation.

This has been a surprisingly wet early summer. Unfortunately, the rain provides no relief from the humidity.  Makes for nice, muddy trenches.

Joe and our good friend Dom. It had been a while since Dom stopped by, and when he drove up this evening, he was a little surprised at the war zone.  At this point, they finished unearthing the other half of the foundation and poured the concrete into the forms.

The entire side of our house, now newly reinforced.

After the concrete had set, the water proofing commenced.  They also staged the drainage lines for the footing drains. This will prevent our basement flooding in the future. Those will get installed next week.

Being that it was 90+ degrees with 90% humidity, everyone was looking for a cool place to hang out.  Joe and I prefer the couch with margaritas in hand. Milo obviously prefers the bookshelf.  What makes this most picture-worthy is that Milo hasn’t really moved from the kitchen in over two years.

And here’s Coz taking a chill. What you don’t see is the fan coming from the A/C’s living room. Ahhhhh....

Since I’m a little behind in posting this week, let me assure you that NEXT week is pretty darn eventful...and not in the best way.  See you then!
