Cadet Takes Home Top WING Honors AT ANNUAL Conference

Civil Air Patrol Cadet Lt Colonel Jacob Miller was awarded the New York Wing’s 2008 Cadet of the Year award at the annual NY Wing Conference on Saturday, May 3, 2008, in Lake George, New York. The New York Wing’s highest cadet award also brings with it a four year $10,000 scholarship.

In addition to receiving the Cadet of the Year award, Cadet Miller was also elected Chairman of New York Wing Cadet Advisory Council, and it was also recently announced that Cadet Miller has been appointed the 2008 NY Wing Leadership Encampment Cadet Commander. The Leadership Encampment is the premier and largest cadet activity in New York Wing.

Cadet Lt Col Miller currently serves as the Condor Composite Squadron’s Cadet Commander, responsible for the thirty-one cadets under his command.  Also to his credit, the squadron was named the 2008 New York Wing Squadron of Merit. Jacob Miller is a senior at Warsaw Central High School, and is the son of Glenn and Rebecca Miller of Warsaw. He will be attending Finger Lakes Community College, Air Force ROTC in the fall and then Rochester Institute of Technology to study mechanical engineering.

“I could not be more proud of cadet Miller,” commented Squadron Commander Major Charles Miller, no relation to cadet Miller. “This is a great achievement for an outstanding cadet officer. I know that he will be very successful in his upcoming endeavors and will be an outstanding leader for the cadets in NY Wing.”

CADET COMMANDER Promoted to Cadet Lieutenant Colonel ALSO RECEIVES CONGRESSIONAL NOMINATION TO USAF ACADEMY

(Warsaw, NY)—The Condor Composite Squadron is pleased to announce that Cadet Jacob Miller from Warsaw, New York, has received the General Ira C. Eaker Award and has been promoted to Cadet Lieutenant Colonel in US Civil Air Patrol’s Cadet Program.

“C/Lt Col Miller is an outstanding cadet officer and very dedicated to his fellow cadets,” said squadron commander Major Charles Miller.  “Jake has worked very hard for his goals and I am very pleased with his success in the program. He is a tremendous asset to the squadron and has a bright and promising future ahead of him.”

Jacob Miller is a senior at Warsaw Central School, and is the son of Glenn and Rebecca Miller of Warsaw. Miller serves as the Condor Composite Squadron’s Cadet Commander, responsible for the twenty nine cadets under his command.

Because of his interest in service to his country, Cadet Miller is applying to the United States Air Force Academy, and recently received a nomination to the USAF Academy from Congressman Tom Reynolds. This is a necessary step in the application process to any of the United States’ military academies.

The General Ira C. Eaker Award, USCAP’s newest award, denotes successful completion of all sixteen achievements and four phases of the Civil Air Patrol Cadet Program. It recognizes cadet completion of the academic, leadership, moral leadership and physical fitness curriculum in existence since 1964. The General Ira C. Eaker Award is the fourth milestone in the cadet program. This award is earned for completion of all sixteen achievements. Approximately 100 cadets per year complete Phase IV and will receive the Eaker Award. This award honors the late Air Force General Ira C. Eaker, aviation pioneer, career military officer and one of the chief architects and visionaries of the US Air Force. <end>
