The Fisher Body Tag | |
My understanding of the relationship between
Fisher and GM is basically the Fisher company was under contract with GM
to produce car bodies for the assembly line. To make sure the car
had the equipment it was supposed to by the end of the line, and to
document what was in the car, a tag was placed on the vehicle with coded
text representing the options on the car. Now not all options were
included, just those that affected the way the body was built etc.
The Late Model Corvair has this tag in where the engine is located (in the back of the car). Right under the right turn signal lights on the rail of the body. It took a bit for me to find mine because I wasn't sure what I was looking for and it was coated with gunk that made it hard to see. I took a quick snapshot to have this available for later reference. No I am not going to remove it, but its easier to reference if you don't have to go out into the garage to get at it. I am no expert on all the decoding of these fields, but what I do "think" I know is shown below. |
