Today is your lucky day, because, I would like to teach the world to use Internet Relay Chat, or "IRC" chat in perfect harmony. So, I have harnessed three of the WORLD'S largest IRC Networks "Why" you ask? Well, I am a former U.S. Navy CTO or Cryptologic Technician Operator who has been around text chat since 1975, mostly using teletype while aboard the aircaraft carrier USS Enterprise CVN65 holding down the night watch, as such, I may be found at Military.Com as CTO3CVN65 . By 1979 I was convinced that someday I would use text chat from home, and as the saying goes, "the rest is history" Well just about, because when I first went online as a civilian, there was no such thing as Microsoft Windows I had to use command line DOS on an original IBM computer with the 8088 Intel microprocessor and a 1200 baud modem first to connect to dial up and telnet BBS's and then a UNIX shell account, just so I could "chat" . Fortunately for me, I eventualy discovered UNIX Unbound by Harley Hahn who takes a humanistic approach to a computing language known to bring college students and other adults to tears. One thing he reminds his readers, is to give back to the computing community. I hope the JPilot IRC connections I have created, will open new windows on the world for those who seek them, or for those who just happen to notice they are open. Beyond IRC, regular viewers of DigitalSter will soon be treated to some great ways to get MORE out of the Internet using Telnet, FTP, HTTP, USENET other Internet Protocols and tools that most people do not tap into. That's right, this site will put you on the road to POWER User status! All links open in a new window! Be BOLD, explore, get MORE from the Internet right from this page. AND besides, have you talked to your neighbors lately? Right, you understand, we need to communicate MORE! This page will allow you, or someone you know to do just that. So, they are all here, more than 400 world, national, state, city and regional names hardwired into each customized chat page. Need IRC help, could you use an IRC or rather Internet Relay Chat tutor? If yes, then this is a GREAT place to get started. I have registered a copy of Jpilot which runs on MANY Java enabled web browsers, and have configured a page for each U.S. State, other nations, and cities will be posted very soon, as well as other popular categories. Each page has its own connection hardwired to one of the three major irc networks DalNet, EfNet, or UnderNet. Now you may have to check each of the three networks to establish which has the strongest following, and in some cases you may find that a state has empty chats on all three networks. Hopefully this page will create a minor chat revolution, as I suspect that those who are homesick, or traveling, or just curious, and who search for regional chats, will find my site quite frequently. Long time IRC users might find the customized chat pages I have created as a welcome portal when away from your favorite IRC program, offering features that will keep you interested in visiting again. |
