Nintendo walked away from gaming's most important award even with seven awards showing that Nintendo is still the leading force of creativity in the game industry. The Interactive Achievement Awards at the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas are held by the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences. Nintendo continues to innovate with games like Animal Crossing, which won the award for "Best Innovation in Console Gaming" and "Console RPG Game of the Year" despite the lukewarm response to it at last years E3 Nintendo press conference. Metroid Prime picked up "First Person Action Game of the Year while Mario Party was recognized as "Family Game of the Year". Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem won "Outstandin Achievement in Character and Story" while another Metroid title, Metroid Fusion morph balled away with "Handheld Game of the Year". After all these years, Nintendo is still showing us what art in gaming is and it will only continue with Zelda: The Windwaker set to release in late March. Does it really get any better? |
