THQ (Publisher Profile)
by Doug Flowe

If you haven't been paying attention over the past two decades of gaming, you might have missed the fact that THQ (Toy Head Quarters) has a hand in every popular system since the NES. With a very prolific track record and game library, over 100 products currently in development for all marketable systems, and product being delivered to over 77 countries, THQ is one of the fasted growing videogame publishers in the world.

THQ employs 300 programmers, game designers and artists working in many studios including Volition, Inc., Outrage Entertainment and Rainbow Studios. The company is well known for it's wrestling franchises, Gameboy Advance and Color ports, it's Evil Dead series and of course Red Faction.

Releases of the near future:

Alter Echo (PS2/Xbox)

A sci-fi action game with an interesting concept. A world is covered by an organic substance that is used by humans to make bio-machines. Yet this organic matter has become aware of itself and its explotation and is fighting back with the help of Paavo the game's villain. The game promises various combat drones and play modes, sharp graphics and an engaging story-line.

Red Faction (PS2)

(Released this week. Check back for review)
The follow up to last years successful PS2 FPS, Red Faction II is one of the years best console shooters. With a new story-line and a new lineup of characters, Red Faction, the group of freedom fighters from the first game, are still standing in the way of the evil 22nd Century dictatorship. With new weapons, new dynamic level design and a whole new campaign, Red Faction II should keep fans happy and create many new ones.
