- Notes
- 1=The
5-star Marine Corps Brevet Medal ribbon came from Mel Wolf (of
Wolf-Brown)
-
in the 1940's and is not official.
- 2=A
new Coast Guard Medal was proposed, the C.G. approved this
ribbon;
the slash sheet was printed; vendors manufactured the ribbon, before
any
medals were ordered, the Coast Guard rejected the ribbon and went back
to searching for a new one.
GRACO
was one vendor who made the ribbon. They also made up some medals.
3=The
Army Medical ribbon was derived from the streamer and
inadvertently manufactured in ribbon form, it does not exist as
anything
but an error.
4=The
difference between the old and new versions of the Dewey (Manila Bay)
Medal was the sewn edge, NOT the height of the ribbon.
5=The
Bailey Medal was for good seamanship and is NOT a campaign medal.
6=The
U. S. COAST GUARD bar was affixed permanently to the
USCG Good Conduct Medal and is not a device, attachment or appurtenance
of
any kind, also the KOREA bar. It was affixed permanently to the
United
Nations Korean Service Medal and is also not a device, attachment or
appurtenance.
6a=I
have copies of these Bars in my collection as seperate devices and this
is why they are included,
am told by a very, very good source that they are not Official.
7=The
DOMINICAN Cpn. (UNOFFICIAL) and the PERSIAN GULF Cpn. (UNOFFICIAL) are
included
as reference only for those who may run across them.
