Teacher Table

Guided Reading - (not round robin reading!)
group by similar reading ability.
Introduction of story - informative, but brief.  Example:  may discuss pictures, some of  the language used, converse about important words etc.  (guide, don't preteach words)

Children silently read the text independently.
Meet back together for a brief discussion - noting new words encountered, building on reading strategies... "look at this word: r-a-n, what word did you already know that helped you with that word?"  (an)... etc.

Book may lead to additional activities - or not...

Add book to browsing boxes.

May choose to ask 1 child to stay to assess independent reading progress.

May have children reread with a partner.
