Word Work

Sort picture cards by: beginning sounds, middle sounds, ending sounds, word endings (singular, plural), word family, etc.	Using word wall cards: Find all the 2 letter words, 3 letters, those beginning with ___, ending with ___, etc.
Sort cards by blends or digraphs.  bl-  cl- th- , ch-, sh-	3 part picture puzzle flashcards -put the cards together to spell...   v-a-n,  j-e-t,  b-u-g, etc.
Sort picture cards by vowels - a e i o u. Sort by long or short vowel sounds.	Search for words that begin or end with certain letters.  Make a list.
Sort word cards or word tiles (Wal-mart) - color words, number words, etc.	Find rhyming pairs - picture cards.
Match picture cards to word cards.	Using word builder cards, make all the words you can for a given word family -  _an, _at, ot, ug, etc.
