Escalante

The Old Town of Paria off US 89 which was destroyed by arson.
Grosvenor Arch
I went to the Escalante mainly to look for slot canyons. This is one I found. Booker Canyon
It can't be compared to Antelope but it's rather unique nevertheless

June 2009 and I just came back from another trip to Staircase Escalante NM where I visited several more slots along with the Wave.

First I visited Wirepass Canyon
Wirepass runs into Buckskin Gulch the longest slot in the world, 11 miles long.
That pool was about knee deep and was as far as I went in Buckskin.

I was lucky and was drawn the second day for a permit to visit The Wave. These are some of the Coyote Buttes on the way to The Wave

It certainly is distinctive.
This was just above The Wave.
This is part of The Second Wave, which is notably different but beautiful
Taken from above, a part of The Wave.
On the way back the scenery didn't fail to inspire.
On the next day I decided to find some Toadstools.
I'm totally in love with this canyon country.
