Fred A. Taft
Fred A. Taff, 74, of 114. N. Franklin Road, died yesterday at 7:30 am at his home following a sudden attack.
Born in Pelzer, he was a son of the late Elias Alexander Taff and Emma Campbell Taff. He came to Greenville
in the early 1900’s.
For many years Mr. Taff was with the Southern Railway Company and then for a long period of time worked for
the Greenville News in the circulation department.
Since 1922, he had been a member of Holmes Memorial Church and the Men’s Bible Class of the church. He was
a song leader for the Sunday School of the church.
He was married twice, first to Mrs. Mary Adeline (Addie) Moore Taff, who died here Dec. 30, 1960.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Lela Barbara Fowler Taff of the home; two sisters, Mrs. Lydia McKinney of
Atlanta and Mrs. Marie Greenwood of Miami.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 5 pm at Holmes Memorial Church by Dr. Paul F. Beacham and
Rev. Larry R. Atkins. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery.
The body is at the Mackey Mortuary and will be taken to the home at 11 am today. The body will be placed
in the church Tuesday at 4 pm.
