History
The Ida County Conservation Board was created in 1960 by a vote of county residents. The Ida County Board of Supervisors appointed the first five member board to oversee the development of the Ida County Conservation Board programs and projects. Since that first meeting in August of 1960, the conservation board has strived to preserve and manage some of the finest recreation and natural areas in western Iowa. |

Purpose
The purpose of the Ida County Conservation Board is to acquire, develop, maintain and make available to the residents of the county, parks, recreational areas, forests, wildlife, and other conservation areas; to encourage conservation of natural resources; and to promote and preserve the health and welfare of the people. |
