Washta Access

& Native Prairies

Washta Access, located 3 miles south of Washta, IA on Highway 31, is a 52 acre park with the Little Sioux River traversing through it. A concrete boat ramp provides easy access to the Inkapaduta Canoe Trail on the river. With access points upstream and downstream, Washta Access is a favorite place to begin or end day-long excursions on the river. If you’re a river fisher, you need to check this park out.

Native prairie and the adjoining timber combine to make this park a beautiful natural area.

Nearby Fairview Cemetery and Douglas Schoolgrounds are unique because of their  stands of virgin prairie. Although Iowa has lost 99.8% of it’s native prairies since settlement in the 1800’s, these two gems remain. Grab your prairie identification books and take a trip to these areas. You’ll love what you find.

Fairview Cemetery is located 3 miles north and 6 miles west of Holstein, IA. Nearby Douglas Schoolgrounds is only 1 mile south and 1 mile west of the cemetery.
