Artesia Lake 7.5’ Quad
The As-Published version of this map is from Stewart and Dohrenwend's 1984 15' quad map. The enhanced version bedrock geology is mostly from Proffett and Dilles' 1984 map, Hudson and Oriel's 1979 map, Dilles' 1987 map, Einaudi's 2000 map and Stewart and Dohrewend's 1984 map, with updates in the Buckskin range area from the small-scale map of Dilles and Wright (1988). Some formation names were updated based on Proffett and Dilles (2008). The alteration is from Dilles and Einaudi (1992), Einaudi, (2000) and Halley and others (2015). All these sources suffered from poor quality (or non-existent) base maps, and I have adjusted nearly every fault and contact trace to match NAIP 2017 orthophotos. I have also completely re-interpreted all the cover rocks and made a few field checks in various small areas.

I also made extensive field checks in the bedrock areas. Some formation names were updated based on Proffett and Dilles (2008). The alteration is mostly photogeologic color anomalies. I mostly corrected this for thrust faults and folds based on the accompanying text, but the status of most high-angle faults in and bordering alluvium is equivocal and will have to wait for a much more in-depth study.
