The accessory drive belt was not bad on my truck yet, but I like to replace these well ahead of failure time just to be safe. On my old Ranger, losing a belt meant maybe power steering loss... maybe alternator loss... maybe AC loss... but on newer vehicles with a serpentine belt, it means you lose everything! I typically change these belts early enough that the old one is still good enough to carry with you as a spare in case something bad happens on the road.
Here's the replacement belt I used. Its a Gates belt from NAPA. This is the belt for the 5.4L *with* air conditioning. I think the V10 uses the same belt.
This pic is from the shop manual. Removing the belt is as easy as releasing tension on the belt tensioner with a 1/2 drive ratchet, and pulling the belt off of the pulleys.

Here's a close-up shot of the belt tensioner
I routed the belt around all the pulleys except for #3, released the tensioner again, and then placed the belt up on pulley #3. I always make a point to lay under the front of the truck to make sure the belt is seated properly in the bottom side of the pulleys.
