Obituary - The Recorder, Gore Bay, Thursday, December 27, 1917 -
Silverwater
On Thursday, the 20th inst the remains of Mrs. Edward Armstrong were laid to rest in the cemetery here. The deceased was 90 years 2 months 20 days old. Her husband predeceased her some seventeen months ago at the a geof 88. Mr. and Mrs. Armstrong came from England in 1846 to New Market, Ont.,and from there they came to Silver Water in 1882 and took up a home in the bush on the West Shore of Silver Lake, where they resided until the death of Mr. Armstrong. Mr. and Mrs. Armstrong were well and favourably known and gave food and shelter to many a weary traveller in the early days.They are survived by one daughter, Mrs. John Kemp, SilverWater, and four sons, Joe and Jackson, Meldrum Bay; George on the homestead; and John in Gore Bay.
