Can't Win 'Em All
Macomb & Mt. Jo, Adirondacks

April 23 & 24, 1999

Their goals were high. Their luck was not. What started as a trip up Dix, (not so) quickly became an aborted attempt at Macomb.

Entering from Elk Lake, the road to the trailhead was not yet open even though the road was passable. Hiking up the road to the trailhead added enough time that making it to Dix and back became unreasonable given that their plans called for a night in Lake Placid. So, "What the heck, let's shoot for Macomb."

Spring snow. It can really fool ya. Not enough to warrant snow shoes. To much to make any reasonable progress.

Well, they still had fun!

And to prove their hiking prowess, skills and abilities, Saturday they conquered Mt. Jo! What hardy souls they proved to be!
