The price of computer memory is as low as I can remember. That makes it a good time to buy more memory. It's also a good time to buy a computer. With Windows XP requiring more memeory and more speed and memory and computer prices low this is a good time to replace an old computer.
You can save even more if you economize where you can.
I don't mean compromise, economize. I have seen many, especially small
businesses, overspend for their computer needs. It makes sense for graphics
intense users, or for those providing networking to get the fastest
computers possible. But if you use your computers for word processing,
spreadsheets, databases, accounting, email, etc., how fast do they have
to be. You will pay a large premium for the three fastest CPU's that any
manufacturer makes. Or you could
save by buying a computer with an AMD CPU. That should save you a few dollars on the new computer
from the price of one using an Intel CPU that compares in performance.
I've used AMD CPU's since 1994 and never found one to be anything less
than tops in performance, and dependably. You could even specify
the fastest CPU and that would be an AMD Athlon not an Intel Pentium,at
least until Intel introduces their next CPU's,(accdording
to many CPU speed/performance tests). For more information about the AMD
Athlon click here for AMD. For speed/performance
tests on almost any CPU click here for the CPU Scorecard.
