HOW TO CONTRIBUTE TO THE

These designations will ensure that gifts will be administered according to the terms of the Fund.

If you would like to make a current contribution to the fund, you may fill out the contribution form that is part of this brochure, place it in an envelope and either put it in the collection plate or deliver it to the church office.

TYPES OF  GIFTS ACCEPTED

The Endowment Fund accepts gifts from individuals, businesses, trusts, and estates.  Individual gifts can be made during an individual’s lifetime, or following death through memorials, a bequest or gift in a will or trust, or through beneficiary designation of some or all of the proceeds of a life insurance policy, annuity, or retirement plan.

Gifts to the Endowment Fund may be designated as follows:

Unrestricted Gifts—These gifts are added to the principal of the fund and are distributed as recommended by the Endowment Fund Committee to the Church Council and approved by a majority vote of the Voters’ Assembly.   Distributions from unrestricted funds are made for the same purposes as for Restricted Funds.

c.    Church music.

d.    Electronic or technological improvements. (Sound system, audio-visual equipment, office machines, computers, etc.)

DISTRIBUTION OF FUNDS

Requests for distribution of unrestricted funds may be submitted to the Endowment Fund Committee by congregational members, committees, or boards  seeking resources for a project within the mission and purpose of the Endowment Fund.  The Endowment Fund Committee will review such requests and make recommendations to the Church Council and Voters’ Assembly for distribution.

Distribution of restricted funds will be directed to the appropriate areas within the congregation for projects or budgets for each of the restricted categories, allowing that congregational area to determine the spending of the distribution amounts.

Distribution amounts will be the greater of the net income earned, or a minimum percentage of 4% of the fair market value of the Endowment Fund and will be disbursed at least annually.

Matthew 10:8

For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, so that you through his poverty might become rich.

2 Corinthians 8:9

Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal.

But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.

For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
