The
V.I.P. ("Victor's
Important Paper") is completely produced and written by the students of
the School Newspaper Enrichment Class. All decisions about articles for
the newspaper are the responsibility of the student staff.
The
V.I.P. is a monthly production,
and it is distributing to all Victor Junior High students and staff, as well
as the Board of Education and the District Administration. Copies are available
to the general public upon request.
In the future, we hope to have an online version of the newspaper, but
that is still in the works.
Our goals are to…
- Report on what is happening in the Junior High School from a student
perspective.
- Improve the writing skills of the student staff to help them meet
and exceed New York State standards.
- Give students experience in all aspects of journalism: reporting,
photography, graphic design, editorializing, editing.
Student Expectations…
- All students on the V.I.P. staff are expected to make at least one
contribution to the newspaper every month. Their contribution can be an
article, a layout design, a photo montage, or a cartoon.
- The staff strives towards high journalistic standards - truthfulness,
fairness, correct usage of the English language.
- The quality of the newspaper should continue to grow, as their experience
grows.
