East Bay Park
Directions:
Route 590 N to Empire Blvd. exit. Turn right (east) on Empire Blvd.
Continue past Plank Road at light. Turn left on Smith Road (Bay Park sign) 3/10 mile past
light at Plank Road. Follow Smith Road to parking lot just before gate. Trails
begin down paved road beyond gate.
Description:
This is rugged, undeveloped land consisting of 200-300 foot valleys and bluffs, and
trails typically at the top and bottom. Terrain is hilly and challenging. Deer
flies and mosquitoes are standard. Trails extend from Bayview YMCA (private land) to
Empire Blvd. (private land). Trails are mostly sand and dry quickly. Must
cross muddy, marshy area to get to Empire Blvd. trails. Bring a lot of water, bug
repellant, and a towel.
Durand Eastman Park (Closed!)
Directions:
Route 590 N to Durand Blvd. exit. Turn left (west) on Durand Blvd.
Turn left on Culver Road. Park immediately on right across from A-Plus gas
station. Trails begin across field behind parking area.
Description:
Trails are generally flat, circling a series of ponds in the area. Trails are
mildly technical in places. Caution must be taken due to sharp corners and
hikers. Riding on the golf course is at your own risk. Trails generally stay
in the woods. Mosquitoes are standard. Bring bug repellant.
Tryon Park
Directions:
Route 590 N to Altantic Avenue exit. Turn left (west) on Atlantic Avenue.
Turn right on Winton Road. Turn right on Tryon Park Road just past Winton
Deli. Turn right on Loudisa Street. Park in loop or gravel parking lot.
Limited parking is also available on Tryon Park Road before Route 590 overpass. Trails
begin at end of Tryon Park Road. Access is also available in the back of
the apartment complex on the north side of Atlantic Avenue just east of 590.
Description:
Moderately technical with some easier loops possible. Quite hilly.
Not recommended for novices.
Genesee River Trails (Edgerton Park?)
Directions:(?)
Route 104 to Lake Avenue north. Turn right on Boxart Street which leads to
Turning Point Park. Park anywhere. Trails begin at end of road. (This is
not our current meeting place, but more appropriate than meeting at the monastery and
cutting through the cemetery. )
Description:
Narrow stretch of trails between railroad tracks and Genesee River. Mildly
technical. Few straight sections. Trails can be taken to Ontario Beach Park
with some riding on large gravel next to railroad tracks.
Hi Tor Wildlife Conservation Area (Trail
Map)
Directions:
Route 390 S to Routes 5 & 20 exit. Turn left on Routes 5 & 20. Turn
right on Route 64 (Bristol Mountain). Continue past Bristol. Route 64 ends
when Route 21 comes in from left. Continue into Naples on Route 21. Turn
left on Route 245 across from Bob & Ruth's Restaurant. Turn right on Parish Hill
Road (first road). Parking lot is located off small dirt road on right about 1/2
mile from Route 245. Trail begins at gate by parking lot.
Description:
Logging roads mixed with singletrack. Huge vertical potential. Moderately
technical in places. Finger Lakes
Trail extends through this area, but is closed to mountain biking. Maps are
available at Eastern Mountain Sports.
Directions:
Route 390 south to Mount Morris exit. Follow signs to Mount Morris. At
Mount Morris follow the signs for 408 south. Make a right off 408 at the large Mount
Morris Dam sign and follow the road to the first overlook on the left.
Description:
This area is now officially open to mountain biking, thanks to efforts of local trail
crews! I'll update the directions and description when I get the information.
Directions:
Route 590 S to Monroe Avenue East (2nd exit). Turn right at Clover Street (Route
65 South). Cross Routes 5 & 20. Road is now County Road 37 (South
Road). Continue straight. Road turns to Country Road 37 (Canadice Hill Road)
at Richmond Mills Road. Continue straight on Canadice Hill Road in Canadice where
County Road 37 turns. Stay left on Canadice Hil Road at the road split. Ross Road
goes right. Road turns to dirt. Parking lot will be visible on left side of
road with 1/4 mile. Trails begin from parking lot (WET!) or from gravel road.
Summary: Take Route 65 south. After crossing 5 & 20, go straight.
Stay left at road split.
Description:
This is a very wet park. Trails are easy to moderately technical.
About 12 miles of trails are available. Nice view of Honeoye Lake.
Sprague Brook Park
Directions:
Sprague Brook Park is off of Route 240 just past Kissing Bridge. Turn
left onto Foote Rd. Turn left into the park. Meet by the bathrooms
in the parking lot in front.
Description:
Beginner trails available.
English Road Park (AKA Basil Marella)
Directions:
Take I390 to Vintage Lane exit. Go west on Vintage to Fetzner, then
north on Fetzner to English, then east on English to the park entrance.
Description:
Beginner trails available. This is not a Monroe County park, and biking
is allowed.
