Nov 1972-Nov 1973
I spent a year there at "Alpha
Kilo One India November", from Nov of '72 to Nov of '73. Worked
ancillary maintenance (30372) and was NCOIC of our MARS station plus
worked as Comm Plot for the security alert team. I recollect the
incident where the top-camp runt dog (I believe its name was
"Mong"......short for 'mongrel') tore up them other pooches. I roomed
for a while with Ken Iddins, a civilian food prep guy. The funniest
thing I recall about Indian Mountain was the night the Ops
Officer--"Captain Pete", a West Point ring-knocker--got drunk off his
ass, went to midnight chow, put his face into a plate fulla SOS and
eggs, then went to sleep. Some good times, some serious moments as well.
On Christmas Eve ('72) we got lit up in the club, went to Operations,
an' tried to call the White House via autovon. They were havin' a
huge party there as well an' I think we ended up gittin' Spiro Agnew on
the line as I recollect.
