Robert Yorgason
1954-55
I would like to
hear from others who spent time on top of Indian Mountain, Particularly
around 1954-'55. We had outside toilet facilities, then and would
occasionally catch the 'duty of rolling P-barrels down the
mountain on the north side. I was radar operator. I remember "Bubble
Checks" by F-86's and F-89's, they really
gave us some buzz jobs. In the winter when the ice fog was
bad we would go for some time without mail, clean sheets as well as
some food items. Wein Alaska would manage to sneak through with a
Norseman or Cessna 180 with the mail when no one else dared try. By the
time my year was up I was more than glad to get out of there.
