A larger Ice Bat roster led to
a closer game and the first Ice Bat goal of 2003. But another strong game
from goalie Cool Hand Ross Hedin was not enough and the Bats lost two in a
row going down 4 to 1.
Brad Nielsen played a strong offensive
game leading an up ice rush that resulted in the only Ice Bat goal. Nielsen
found a winded Paul One-Time Wolfram, who had missed the first Ice Bat game
to deal with personal issue and the lingering effects of a self-inflected
knife wound, resting by the side of the Mpls. Fire goal and delivered a perfect
setup. Wolfram slid the ball into an open goal.
That made the score 2 - 1 Fire
which the Fire later built to a two goal advantage by half-time.

The Mpls. Fire shots on goal were
kept to a minimum but able to muster enough precision shots from tough angles.
They scored another goal in the second half to finish up with a 4 - 1 victory.

The Bats lost a heartbreaking
opportunity to score a second goal when Chris Pahl could not control a bouncing
deflection right on the door step.
Mike Shepard pestered the Mpls.
Fire in the corners until they responded by crashing him into the board resulting
in a Ice Bats power-play early in the second half but the Bats were not able
to turn good pressure into a score.
