Jimmy's 4 Ice Bats 1

January 7, 2004

Lemire

Ice Bat veterans were sad to see the day that Jimmy Lemire decided to not continue his broomball playing career. Lemire was selected to by both teams to referee the season opener. In true Lemire, let the boys play, style didn't take the whistle out of his pocket all night. What's a few higher than high sticks and sliding checks into the boards among friends.

Jim Lemire was also inducted into the Ice Bat Hall of Fame before the game joining Bud Baakkonen as charter members.

Though the Ice Bats lost 4 to 1 they were encouraged by the enthusiastic play.

Strong goaltending and the screaming slap shot by Brad Nielsen that scored the only Bat goal.

Pat "Turmoil" Pfermoyle created some excitement with flashes of Lemire style stick handling.

Steve Loos whiff on a open net shot brought loud groans from the Bats.

Team Jimmy scores in the last minute of the half and the game perhaps made the score margin greater than it should have been.

The Ice Bats were also cheered by post-game refreshments at the Spring Street Bar and Grill.
