Ice Bat Awards
IB Media Services will be choosing the Jimmy's Ice Bat Blue.
Line Player of the Year (forward).
Bud's Ice Bat Red Line Player of the Year (defenseman).
And Dave's Ice Bat Net Minder of the Year award.
The awards are of course named after legendary Ice Bat Hall of Fame members. And unlike other awards these will be based on ice play during the past broomball season and review of game tapes.
It seems pretty obvious who the Ice Bat Red Line Player of the Year and Ice Bat Net Minder of the year will be but there are three Ice Bats still in competition for the Ice Bat Blue Line Player of the Year award and the season’s final game will decide the issue.
Brad Boom Boom Nielsen would win the award at if the season was already over but Steve Loos and Mike Blommel still have a chance to make a statement in the final game.

Patrick Turmoil Pfermoyle takes credit for both Ice Bats wins
The Ice Bats found another under equipped and very ill-shod broomball team the Steinbachers who they easily dominated with a shutout victory. The Bats scored six or seven goals, one contested goal by Killer Koshiol is still awaiting further video review.
The score would have been much more lopsided except for the excellent goaltending by the Steinbacher net minder.
Boom Boom Nielsen’s two goal evening put him ahead of player spokesman Steve Loos for the Ice Bat Blue Line Player of the year award. Mike Blommel’s two goals scored in the game also put him into competition for the award. Steve Loos decided to vacation rather then don the Ice Bat’s jolly greens.
Patrick Turmoil Pfermoyle meanwhile claimed that he deserved the credit for the last two Ice Bat wins. Last week for his offensive play and this week for taking over as emergency goalie and stifling the Steinbacher team’s one shot on goal.
Jeff The Doctor Edberg added some appreciated speed and hustle to Ice Bat front.
The Ice Bats evened their record to two and two on the season but there next opponent is a “name” broomball team Colliers who may unlike last season show up to give the Ice Bats game.

Ice Bats can’t believe their eyes
No one is quite sure how or why but someone went out and built a broomball team (while forgetting to supply the team with a broomball or enough broom sticks) so pathetic that they lost 10 nothing to the Ice Bats tonight. The team was supposedly named the Love Brokers but the Bats decided to call them the Ice Pimps.
The Ice Bats found offense came so easily that no one who was reasonably sound physically and mentally was left out of the scoring. But the Bats felt little excitement in the end because it came to easy.
To add to the humiliation of the Ice Pimps Boomer Antila was hoisted over the boards for the first time in over three seasons for a quick shift.
Six times the opposition got close enough to goalie Ross Hedin that he had to put down his newspaper but he was able to preserve the shutout.
In post game remarks the Bats were heard to say that they were glad Steve Loos had spoken up last week about management's lackadaisical attitude and it had helped this weeks effort though little effort was needed against this team.

morose Whitey Wolfram starts pointing fingers
Ice Bats were surprised by an email from Whitey Wolfram blaming Ice Bats latest lost on the referee with a vituperative personal attack on the official. Though the referee was second guessed for calling the game so closely he certainly wasn't one sided about it.
Strangely no protest was filed with the minneapolis rec department about the game and the ref's calls. As there should have been if foul play was involved.
Whitey talks about how he came back to soon from last week's injury and flames Sparky.

Ice Bats Win (first half)
It was a great story the Ice Bats see the return of broomball legend Jeff the Doctor Edberg, as well as, Duane Killer Koshiol. Robin Cookie Cook making his second emergency start in goal hoping to redeem his humiliating start last season. The Bats were wearing their new jolly green giant uniforms for the first time. A crippled Whitey Wolfram heroically playing against the advice of the Ice Bat medical advisor. Lead to an almost impossible accomplishment the Ice Bats beating a team that actually showed up for the game.
And it came true … well unless you want to count both halves of the game.
The Ice Bats lead Jimmy's by a one to nothing score at the half on a deflected goal by Gregg Krum Cake over the uninspired Jimmy’s squad.
But the second half saw the first of many controversial penalty calls on the Ice Bats when Doctor Edberg was sent off for a combination of checking and roughing which quickly led to the first of team Jimmy’s goal.
After that Cookie was victimized by three more laser side shots goals.
Injured Whitey Wolfram was unable to catch up to the play and saw his personal plus minus number spiral further into negative territory.
And the Bats were beaten four to one by the Jimmy’s team.

A bitter Loos points finger at Ice Bat coaching
Last years Ice Bat MVP Steve Loos says the Bats were beaten by Jimmys because they were "out coached"
Saying the opposition "had a plan in the second half" while the Ice Bats didn't.

Ice Bats beaten by Mpls. Firefighters 5 to 2 in season opener
Though the Ice Bats scored first this night on Boom Boom Nielsen's first of his two goals. The Firefighters quickly took the lead and went on to score a convincing 5 to 2 victory.
Coach David Hanson was enshrined into the Ice Bat Hall of Fame during the game.
The Firefighters led two to one at half but put away the Ice Bats with quick two goal flurry to open the second half. Boom Boom Nielsen scored his second goal on a power play but the Ice Bats otherwise showed little offense in the second half.

“Whitey” Wolfram terms his Ice Bat future “QUESTIONABLE”
Paul “Whitey” Wolfram right knee crumpled on him late in the game when he tried change direction. Though he was able to leave the ice under his own power. He is questionable for future Ice Bats games.
