THE PURPOSE OF THE CROSS (HEB 12:2)

He came to pay a debt He didn’t owe because we owed a debt we couldn’t pay.

PS: 2:8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death. even the death of the Cross

COL l:2 And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.

Col 2:14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances; that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross.

ROM 8:32 Me that spared not his own son, but de1ivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?

It wasn’t just the CROSS-but the ONE ON THE CROSS.

1. To PURCHASE OUR FREEDOM FROM ALL INIQUITY. . -

TIT 2:14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works,

2. THAT HE MIGHT BRING US TO GOD

lPE 3:18 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but Quickened by the spirit:

Brought—Not as Criminals- (But as Blood bought Sons.

But How???

1. It brings us to the (KNOWLEDGE OF GOD).

2. It brings us to the (FAVOUR OF GOD).

3. We are brought into the (Likeness OF GOD)..

2Pe 1:4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

4- Brought into the (HOME AND IMMEDIATE Presence of GOD).

It is the power of the cross that brings us to God

5. It will bring you out of your Sins.
