Missing the blessings Luk 15:25-32

The prodigal son had found forgiveness.

There was rejoicing over this soul.

His brother was not so happy.

If our worst enemy got saved today, would we rejoice???

He never made an effort to get his brother back.

He was worried about his own affairs! V. 25

He Heard v.25

He made a judgment before getting the facts.

Joh 4:27 And upon this came his disciples, and marvelled that he talked with the woman: yet no man said, What seekest thou? or, Why talkest thou with her?

Asked someone else. V.26

He went to the wrong place to get his answers.

Was told the great news. V.27

He became angry. V. 28

Refused to join the family.

Missed out on the rejoicing and blessings.

He chose to be Alone. -- This is a very lonely place to be. (Jonah found this place)

Jon 4:1 But it displeased Jonah exceedingly, and he was very angry.

2 And he prayed unto the LORD, and said, I pray thee, O LORD, was not this my saying, when I was yet in my country? Therefore I fled before unto Tarshish: for I knew that thou art a gracious God, and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repentest thee of the evil.

3 Therefore now, O LORD, take, I beseech thee, my life from me; for it is better for me to die than to live.

4 Then said the LORD, Doest thou well to be angry?

He still does today!

ILL. ---The Apostles had become discouraged.

6 And he said unto them, Cast the net on the right side of the ship, and ye shall find. They cast therefore, and now they were not able to draw it for the multitude of fishes.

5. Found him in a state of jealousy. V. 29-30
So 8:6 Set me as a seal upon thine heart, as a seal upon thine arm: for love is strong as death; jealousy is cruel as the grave: the coals thereof are coals of fire, which hath a most vehement flame.

He would not claim him as his brother. V. 30

He was still looking in the past. V. 30

6. The Fathers reply. V. 31-32

Lu 15:8 Either what woman having ten pieces of silver, if she lose one piece, doth not light a candle, and sweep the house, and seek diligently till she find it?

9 And when she hath found it, she calleth her friends and her neighbours together, saying, Rejoice with me; for I have found the piece which I had lost.

10 Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth.
