Responsibility (Gen 3:1-13)

2 types of People:

  1. Those you can give a job to do and they get it done.
  2. Those wanna be leaders you must prod, beg, remind, and encourage them to do it. And you wind up doing it yourself

        A. As a result of our fallen , fleshly nature, mankind always tries to side step his responsibility.

        B. Man is not responsible by nature.

ILL. That is why companies have to have supervisors, time clocks, ect, on the job.

  1. Adam and Eve: both blamed someone else
  2. Esau: when questioned about his birthright, which he sold. He said, "Jacob took it"

Responsibility it doesn’t come naturally (it must learn!)

  1. We are Responsible to God:
  2. Ro 14:12 So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.

    1. In the Matter of Sin:

We must face up to the responsibility of our own sins.

Job 13:23 How many are mine iniquities and sins? make me to know my transgression and my sin.

  3. What we do with our bodies:
  4. Ro 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

1Co 6:20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.

  5. With our works; (our lifestyles)
  6. 1Th 5:22 Abstain from all appearance of evil.

  2.  We are Responsible to other Christians:

    1. We are to love others:
    2. 1Jo 4:7 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. 8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.

    3. We are to Submit to our Leaders:
    4. Heb 13:17 Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you.

    5. We are to Help others:
    6. 1Th 5:14 Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men.

    7. We are not to Hinder others:
    8. Ro 14:13 Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother's way.

Ro 14:21 It is good neither to eat flesh, nor to drink wine, nor any thing whereby thy brother stumbleth, or is offended, or is made weak.

    9. We are to minister our gifts to others:

1Pe 4:10 As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the

                     manifold grace of God.

3. You are Responsible to your Family:

Husbands stand as head in the family and are responsible for their training

Mothers are next.

  1.   Parents are Responsible to Care for their Children:

1Ti 5:8 But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and

                    is worse than an infidel.

  1.  Parents are Responsible to Train their Children:

Pr 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.
