Albert enlisted in 1861 in Co E, 18th WI Inf and was in the Battle of Shiloh. In a rifle accident he lost the sight of one eye and was discharged. Wanting to re-enlist, he went to Green Bay and tipped an examining officer to examine him in the dark. Thus, in the spring of 1864 he entered Co C, 14th WI vol. Despite a leg wound he served until Oct 1865. |
