Navajo Nation Sheep Dip Vat Project
Background
In May 1994, the EPA wrote and implemented an Action Memorandum request for a time-critical removal action at the Navajo SDV sites. The memorandum outlined: the responsibilities of federal agencies, and remedial action to be taken at 22 dip vat sites; the clean-up method and a clean-up goal of 25 parts per million (ppm). The worst sites, those highest in toxaphene, would be addressed first.
