The USS Constellation (CV64) is the ship I am cross-assigned to. In civilian terms, this is the ship I report to when I go active for two weeks each year. When arriving for the fist time last year, I was taken aback by the size difference between an carrier and a frigate . By comparison, the Connie is 1049 feet long and the George is 455 feet. Water displacement on Connie is 88,000 tons where the George is 4100 tonms. Ships crew on Connie is approximately 5000, the George is just over 200. The Connie is propelled by 4 steam turbine engines, the George by only 2 gas turbines. The Constellation when underway serves 18,000+ meals per day!
