Grooming

Brush
Sue: We bought Pearl two brushes when she was a puppy - one was sort of wirey and the other was soft.
Pearl: I hated both.
S: We don't brush her anymore. We figure she sheds enough, she doesn't need to be brushed.

Nails
S: Ahhh, the nails.
P: I don't like people touching my nails.
S: Oh, that we know. I've been taking her to a place here where they were cutting them for $5. Not a bad deal but they just weren't cutting them short enough. My friend then taught me to cut Pearl's nails, but it's just so darned stressful on all of us.
P: Mommy made me yelp.
S: It was horrible. So I decided to cease and desist. Her nails were just getting longer and longer and I was getting more afraid so I took her to Petco.
P: That was a bad day.
S: The woman was slow but efficient and she had a guy holding Pearl and rubbing her belly. They finally got the job done, but everyone was pretty exhausted.
P: I got a cookie!
S: The woman said I should bring Pearl back in a month so I am going to and then I'll decide if I will try it myself again.

Baths
S: We used to bathe Pearl about once a week when she was puppy. I'm not sure why!
P: Me either!
S: Now, my husband does it about every 6 weeks. She is still small enough, he can put her in the kitchen sink.
P: Sometimes he forgets to move the soap and I lick it.
S: She's pretty good in the bath. She doesn't fuss, but when we try to dry her off with the towel, she turns into a maniac.
P: And then I have to poo.
S: I guess the bath and the running stimulates her bowels.

Face
S: As cute as the puggie face is, it's also one of the stinkiest places on earth.
P: Because I eat poo!
S: There's also a whole lot of wrinkle on that face and drool and other stuff get caught in the creases. We wash her face with a clean, warm cloth every few days. Right after the wet cloth, we dry the wrinkles out with a dry cloth.
P: It makes me mad.
S: But then you get a cookie!
P: Ah, cookies.
