Geoffrey Le Scrope (born before1285 - Bolton, England), son of William Le Scrope, gained the Manor of Clifton-Upon-Ure (Yore) in South Wensleydale, and was given a license to build a castle there in 1318. He, and his brother Henry Le Scrope, were both lawyers, soldiers and diplomats and became Chief Justice to the King's Bench. Additionally gained the Castle and Manor of Skipton, located at the opposite corner of the Dales from Masham. He married Ivetta (or Juetta) De Ros (born about 1285, of Ingmanthorpe, England; died before 1340). They had children: Beatrice (or Beatrix) - born about 1307 in Masham, Yorkshire, England; married Andrew Luttrell before 1324 Constance Scrope - born about 1308 in Masham, Yorkshire, England; married Geoffrey Luttrell before 1324 Henry Le Scrope - born September 29, 1312 in Masham, Yorkshire, England; eldest son; became the first Lord Scrope of Masham, fighting at Crecy, Poitiers and Najara. Thomas Le Scrope - born about 1317 in Masham, Yorkshire, England; second son; died young (before 1340) Geofrey Le Scrope - born 1319 in Masham, Yorkshire, England; died April 11, 1383 at 63 years of age. Stephen Le Scrope - born 1322 in Masham, Yorkshire, England; married Isabella in Masham, Yorkshire, England, about 1364; also fought at Crecy and took part in the siege of Berwick in 1356; died 1406 at 84 years of age William Le Scrope - born 1325 in Masham, Yorkshire, England; married twice - married Maud (Matilda) De Neville; fought at Crecy, Poitiers and Najara with Henry but later died in Spain in1367 at 42 years of age John Scrope - born about 1327 in Masham, Yorkshire, England Ivetta Scrope - about 1327 in Masham, Yorkshire, England; married John De Hotham in Masham, Yorkshire, England, about 1353; died July 31, 1391 at 64 years of age Geoffrey Le Scrope died December, 1340 in Ghent, France.
