He was a boot and shoemaker. His brother William, was a tanner and a farmer. The cemetery were Harmon is buried in Champaign county is a Quaker cemetery. History of Champaign county, in 1844 Harmon Limes was a corporation officer and he was appointed the first marshal in Lewisburg.His will was probated 5-Mar-1861, leaving the house and lot in Lewisburg to his wife Mary, and his three children. Wesley Limes, Elizabeth Ann Baldwin and Adaline Winder.

Harmon said on the census that he was born in VA. His brother William, who was about 13 years older, said on the census he was born in MD.
