EFFINGHAM - Howard McArtor, 73, of Effingham, formerly of St. Elmo, died 10:15 p.m. Monday (Nov. 28, 1988) in John Cochran Veterans Administration Center, St. Louis.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Pagel Funeral home, Edgewood, with visitation after 6 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Brown Cemetery, Edgewood, with military rites. Memorials: VA Nursing Home Care Unit, Marion.
Mr. McArtor was born in Edgewood, son of John and Della McArtor. He was a retired printer, member of Edgewood Christian Church, former member of Keeler Adams American Legion Post 1168 in Edgewood and a World War II Marine veteran. He married Stella A. Wisnowski in 1934.
Surviving are his wife; son, Gerald of Hollywood Hills, Fla.; daughter, Mrs. Ray (Diane) Scoles of Edgewood; brother, Allen of Effingham; sister, Mrs. Merle (Aileen) Weaver of Danville; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren.
One son, eight brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.
