2018 EVENTS, PROGRAMS & SERVICES…

ANNUAL DINNER: This is our annual banquet held in January. We present our annual awards and host an interesting and informative keynote speaker.

AUTUMNFEST: One-day street fair on Mercer Street, set for the last Saturday in September. This year’s 13th annual event will be held on Mercer Street on Saturday, September 29. In association with Autumnfest we hold the Miss Princeton Autumnfest Pageant to select a queen to reign over Autumnfest and to travel around the state promoting Autumnfest, Princeton and Mercer County. This year’s pageant will be held on May 19 at the Chuck Mathena Center.

BUSINESS BEFORE HOURS: This popular event is held at least twice a year. It features motivational speakers and a FREE breakfast. It is open to our entire membership and all their employees.

BUSINESS AFTER HOURS: An excellent networking opportunity. The goal for this event is to have one every month throughout the year. Several of our members host these events, providing food and drinks.

CHRISTMAS PARADE: The Chamber sponsors the area’s premier Christmas Parade. It is always held at 6:00 p.m. on the first Monday after Thanksgiving. In 2018 that date is November 26.

GOLF TOURNAMENT: We hold an Annual Golf Tournament at Fountain Springs Golf Course. This year’s 29 th annual tournament is May 11.

LEGISLATIVE LOBBYING: Our Chamber is very active during the legislative session. We sponsor trips to the capitol, have membership alerts throughout the session, and cosponsor a reception and dinner with the Bluefield Chamber at the WV Chamber Legislative Conference.

MEMBERSHIP OUTREACH: This group performs a vital function by visiting our members throughout the year. They assist at ribbon-cuttings, membership recruitment and retention.

SHRIMP FEAST: This annual event is tremendously successful and is held at the Brushfork Armory in early May of each year. This is our most popular networking event. The 2018 ShrimpFeast is May 3.

HISTORICAL CHRISTMAS ORNAMENT: We produce a new Christmas Ornament to sell each year to memorialize a structure, object or place of significant meaning to our community. This project has continued consecutively since 1993.

WOMEN’S EXPO: This 2-day event concentrates on the interests, concerns and services for women. It is held in late October at the Brushfork Armory. This year’s date is October 26-27.

Most of these events and activities require a great deal of volunteer time. If you have any interest in any of the above projects, please call us at 487-1502.

SERVICES: We daily give referrals of our members to anyone who calls. We serve as general researcher, information-gatherer and networker throughout our community. In addition to providing support and assistance to all the above-mentioned projects and events, the Chamber also produces a monthly newsletter (2 free inserted advertisements per year per member). The Chamber’s website at www.pmccc.com contains links to any of our members who have their own website, at no charge to the member. The office prepares such documents as our Image Book, maps and various other brochures in an ongoing effort to promote our region. We work very closely with the Mercer County Development Authority and the Mercer County Convention & Visitor’s Bureau to enhance economic and tourism development in Mercer County.
