Biography
My art career evolved in 1989 after an early retirement from an extensive business background.
Although my first and foremost interest was in painting realism, my passion
these past years has been creating my unique style referred to as
Folk Art primarily focusing on “Country”. As a Folk Artist, I am expressing
events that tell a story in a disciplined, detailed and descriptive naïve way
jogging memories of the past for many people, evoking charm, warmth and
peacefulness. Sometimes specific elements may be over sized to purposely call
attention to their importance in my paintings – again, a naïve form of
expression. The formulation of my work is derived from life’s experiences.
Growing up in apple country and being surrounded by the picturesque beauty of
Historical Pultneyville, NY along Lake Ontario has greatly influenced my
creativity.
I have published a number of reproductions from my original works. Many
commissions have been completed over the years as well as having numerous
collectors, both private and corporate – (The American Lung Association) It
has been a privilege to have patrons purchase my work throughout the United
States as well as from Japan, Australia, Germany, Canada and England.
My work was previously available at the Rochester Memorial Art Gallery, Rochester,
N.Y., and also in galleries in the Finger Lakes region. I have held one woman
exhibits and was a featured artist in the "1997 - I Love New York"
television promotion of Wayne County in Upstate New York.
