Volunteers dress in costumes appropriate to the buildings they are working in during Heritage Days, and this year the Chautauqua Tent featured a Vintage Fashion Show with men and women dressed in fashions from the Victorian period to 1960. There were many fine examples of period costume including Civil War military uniforms, formal dress for men and women and practical everyday wear from years ago.
The portraits on the wall in the dining room of the Marcus Sears Bell Farmstead give a good idea of fashions nearly one hundred years ago, while Jerri's dress is like one a prosperous farm wife would have worn to welcome guests in days gone by. |

Wearing a stylish suit, stole and hat from nearly 50 years ago, Anne Olson waits to be called to the catwalk for the Vintage Fashion Show. |
I took this photo at the 1997 Heritage Days celebration, but I have been wanting to share it with others. The young lady is part of the pioneer family at the log cabin. Here she welcomes visitors in her Sunday best. |
